Greetings Fortis Family,
December 1, 2017
The Board of Directors of KCOBA USA Inc. wishes you and your family a warm and wonderful holiday season. We are very appreciative of your support throughout 2017. Your continued contributions and dedication have allowed us to support and promote our beloved alma mater, Kingston College, its alums and our local community.
This year, 2017, has been a banner year for our great institution, and this is evident by the number of transformational developments. To name a few: KC is now second in the national academic rankings of all boys schools; the entire teaching staff is now Gurian-trained; the school finally started a Robotics club; and on September 16th, 2017, KC formally opened the Byron Bachelor Athletics Complex at the Melbourne Park campus. Yes, our downtown school is now only one of two high schools in Jamaica with a chevron track. Our senior football team is back where it belongs at the top, and is being talked about by all football enthusiasts. Additionally, KC just broke ground on its most ambitious project in recent times: The KC Library and Technology Campaign. This project involves the completion of the Douglas Forrest Building, which will create a modern state of the art library and technology facilities, plus much needed classrooms.
The KC Library & Technology Campaign has been in the pipe-line for over 3 years, and ideally the school would have wanted to start the project much earlier. Unfortunately, we failed to reach the targeted financial goals because of insufficient pledges and pledges that were ultimately not honored. Notwithstanding, as Fortis, the mission is on and if you have not done so yet, please make your donation to this extraordinary but critical venture. Fortis Family, KCOBA USA Inc. is committed to providing ongoing assistance to our illustrious school, and some of our continuous programs include: Scholarship (80 students); Nutrition, Prize Giving, FortisCare Backpacks, Joyce Baxter Math Club, and a number of Sports Teams. We need your support
Kingston College is on a positive trajectory and the future looks bright. However, to maintain or even add to this momentum, resources and commitments are needed. Accordingly, in addition to supporting our fundraising events, we need you to pay your membership Dues. Family, it is unbelievable, but less than 2% of our Fortis brothers are paying Dues. The fundraising scene has become very competitive, and as such, it is imperative that you pay your Dues. It is an essential component of the association’s revenue, and without it, we cannot deliver on our mission.
